MEDIA SUCCESS

Congratulations to Charlotte Heward who has won a £3000
bursary to read media studies at the University of Teesside.
Charlotte had a rigorous interview at the University that
included a presentation of her portfolio of work. Notable pieces
include Charlotte’s significant contributions to the St Mary’s
student newspaper as well as a magazine that she helped produce
when she was a pupil at Acklam Grange School. In addition to her
expertise with printed media, Charlotte demonstrated her talents
with video through the production of a music video and an
introductory sequence to a thriller. Charlotte is particularly
pleased to have won the bursary as the degree course will
provide an excellent stepping stone for the media career she
hopes to follow.
Mary Sproxton, the Media Studies
teacher at St Mary’s, is delighted with Charlotte’s achievement
but is also very pleased with the high number of students
progressing into media related degree courses. This year there
is a total of 16 students who will progress on to courses
ranging from journalism through to film production.
